DOWN ON THE FARM is a paid film commission project managed by North Devon Moving Image CIC. There are 6 commissions available and each successful applicant will produce one film sharing the heritage and promoting the work of farmers and farming in North Devon.
We are looking for fascinating, engaging stories of local people. Proposals will be selected on the basis of creativity, story, quality of previous work. For full requirements and online application form please scroll down this page.

DOWN ON THE FARM - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- The commission is run by North Devon Moving Image CIC (NDMI)
- The "applicant" is the named person making the application. However there is no limit to the amount of people who can be involved in making each film
- Applicants must be aged 18 or over and resident or studying in the United Kingdom
- We welcome applications from emerging and established film makers
- A total of 6 applicants will be selected to produce 1 film each
- Each successful applicant will be awarded a commission fee of £1000 to produce 1 X 5 minute film
- The fee will be payable in two stages FIRST £500 on approval of production plan (30 September 2018) and FINAL £500 on receipt of final edited film (November 2019)
- Each applicant may submit up to 6 applications - a separate form must be used for each application
- No additional expenses will be paid for by NDMI
- Films to be of 5 minutes duration including opening titles and end credits
- Films must be factual and focus on an individual farmer or farming family in north Devon (within the boundaries of North Devon's Biosphere Reserve - see map below)
- Applications will be selected on the basis of the following criteria: Evidence of previous high quality film making, Fulfilling the brief, Creativity and innovation, Strong narrative and engaging characters, Ability to deliver
- The selection panel will comprise representatives from the documentary film making and farming industries and Directors of NDMI
- Opening date for applications is Friday 1 June 2018 09.00 am
- Closing date for applications is Wednesday 1 August 2018 10.00 pm
- Films must be produced between the production dates of 30 September 2018 and 31 October 2019
- Copyright of films will remain with the film maker and NDMI will hold rights of distribution
- Each film must include an end card (supplied by NDMI) displaying NDMI and funder/sponsor logos
- Every film maker must hold their own public liability insurance up to £1,000,000 and ensure that all equipment is adequately insured
- In submitting a film the film maker must declare that all music copyright is agreed and paid for
- Film makers must obtain signed release forms from all contributors and share these with NDMI
- North Devon Moving Image CIC reserves the right to make changes to these terms and conditions if necessary
- On selection successful applicants will be required to sign a letter of agreement containing full details of commitment and delivery of materials before the advance payment of the commission fee is paid

- Farming with Nature
- Young Farmers
- Innovation and Enterprise
