North Devon Moving Image CIC are offering one local charity the opportunity to have a free promotional video produced by young people at Petroc in Barnstaple.
We have received funding from the Wace Family Fund (via Devon Community Foundation) to work on a digital media project with young people who are on the Entry to Employment and Careers Skills programmes. The young people will produce a short video and additional clips for social media to promote a local North Devon charity. The project will run from the beginning of November 2017 until March 2018, culminating in a screening ceremony to which stakeholders and press will be invited.
If any local charities are interested please could they contact me, Amanda McCormack, by email email@example.com with a summary of the work of their charity and a named contact by Friday 20 October 2017. We will then put all the proposed partners forward for the young people to select who they would like to work with. We will then invite a representative from the selected organisation to meet the young people and give them an idea of what they would like the promotional video to do for them.
To give an example of what the short film could look like please see our recent project in collaboration with the Encompass South West youth homelessness project, Streetwise http://www.northdevonmovingimage.org.uk/youth-homelessness---streetwise-north-devon--torridge.html
Following on from some positive feedback and great press coverage of our Clovelly Donkeys pilot film we are full steam ahead with plans for community workshops, film making and education for 2014 and beyond.
We have plenty more up our sleeve too including the all important funding bids to bring these exciting projects to fruition.
One area we are keen to get going as soon as possible is delivering some documentary film making education in North Devon. We are currently looking for partners who can help us deliver film making workshops for children and adults in community or education settings. If you are interested in this please do get in touch.
North Devon Moving Image launched in October 2013 and this week we began production on our very first short film.
Clovelly Donkeys (working title) will be the first in-house production for NDMI to kick start our collection of short films about everyday life in North Devon today.
After all the rain and storms we were blessed with a dry day in Clovelly for our video shoot with Sue and Bart Kelly and their gorgeous donkeys (and Giffy the mule). We arrived early to see what a typical day is like, caring for the donkeys in the winter season - there's a lot more to it than bunging them a bit of hay.
Sue has been keeper of the donkeys at Clovelly for around thirty three years and Bart earned the title of Assistant Donkey Keeper when he married Sue ten years ago.
It was fascinating for us to learn about the history of donkeys at Clovelly, what it is like living in a goldfish bowl of a village and how the community is holding up in modern times. It goes without saying that we had more than our fair share of cuddles with the lovely long eared critters too! Above is a photo of me with Sarah who was more than a little bit curious about the filming process!
