St Anne's: Edward Crumpton - Artist in Residence
Edward Crumpton talks about his work as Artist in Residence at St Anne's Chapel in Barnstaple, North Devon, UK from 2011 to 2012.
We hear how the history of St Anne's and its special atmosphere and the quality of the light in the gothic building influenced Edward Crumpton's drawings. Ed compares the old graffiti carved onto the school desks and stone walls, when the chapel was in use as Barnstaple Grammar School, to that being made with marker pen outside the building today.
The charcoal drawings and ink sketches Ed created during his one year residency have captured a moment in time before St Anne's was renovated.
This is the first film in the St Anne's Oral History project being undertaken by North Devon Moving Image in 2014.
